Kingswood Primary and Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We believe that safeguarding is central to everything we do in school and in working to this agenda we ensure that the children come into a safe, happy and secure learning environment every day. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website.
We follow the safer recruitment policy and several of our staff and governors have been trained in the procedures. We ensure that all staff and regular volunteers are DBS checked and this information is recorded on our Single Central Register. All staff at school have safe guarding training annually and this is supported by regular updates. This ensures that all staff can recognise any signs of abuse and that they are clear of the actions that they need to take.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare. We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism. Below are the contact numbers for a child protection referral.
